A destination for both paints and fashion
“Jernia wants to be where people are, and to be the customer’s local hero. In Oslobukta, we have premises with a great exposure to both residents and workers, and the fact that we as residents can be part of guiding the development of the area is a definite plus, says Lauglo.
A good starting point for sustainable solutions
As Oslobukta and Bjørvika undergo development, Jernia has also taken the lead in developing its offerings. Many would associate Jernia with the sale of paint, frying pans, and tools, but Lauglo is clear that the location opens for more sustainable and circular solutions.
He specifically highlights the rental of drills and Jernia’s fully circular exchange system for fire extinguishers as being popular in the metropolitan shops.
An attentive landlord is key
Jernia opened in Oslobukta a few days before the country entered a pandemic and shut down. Thanks to the good communications between the tenant and the landlord, the launch was still a success. The work from home lifestyle motivated many people to renovate, and with large storage and a shop venue adapted for click-and-collect solutions, many customers were pleased that they could get everything they needed for renovation projects big and small at a walking distance from their home.
“Carucel listened to our needs and together, we reached good solutions for our location that make us an attractive and accessible addition to the shops in Oslobukta,” says Lauglo.
Oslobukta skal ha noe for alle
Caroline Krefting is the project manager for Oslobukta at Carucel Eiendom. She’s highly satisfied with the contributions Jernia gives to the area, and feels that the chain is a key part of the varied portfolio Carucel wishes to offer. She notes that Carucel and Jernia share many of the same visions and values for the continued development of the site as a destination.
“The area around Oslobukta isn’t just a popular tourist attraction, it’s also an area that’s seeing ever more people coming to live and work. It has been important for us to develop a destination characterised by Norwegian companies with an emphasis on locally sourced and sustainable solutions, and Jernia is a strong contributor in that area,” Krefting concludes.
Jernia is a national retail chain with 130 shops, which opened in Oslobukta in 2020. Here you can find all you need of hardware, tools, paint supplies, barbecue supplies, household goods, kitchen supplies and interior goods.
Jernia can be found at Dronning Eufemias Gate 57 in Oslobukta.
